The build-up continues towards the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot, thus named to celebrate the Queen of England’s Diamond Jubilee and we’ve linked a video of Peter Moody being interviewed for AtTheRaces by the eccentric Matt Chapman.

Moody is the trainer of the undefeated mare Black Caviar who will be making a trip to the UK to run at Royal Ascot in June to put to bed any questions of how good she is on a world scale.

Chapman puts questions to Moody that evoke some patriotic responses but also some pretty sensical ones too. It’s a classic case of the Aussies vs ”The Poms” and it really whets the appetite for a potential clash between Black Caviar and Frankel.

The Diamond Jubilee Stakes is a British Group 1 race for three-year-olds and up. It was first run in 1868 as the All Aged Stakes when it was won by Laneret. In 1926 it was renamed the Cork and Orrery Stakes after the 9th Earl of Cork & 9th Earl of Orrery who had served as Master of the Buckhounds from 1866.

Paddy Power’s Odds For The Diamond Jubilee Stakes 2012. Black Caviar Now At 1/2

10 out of 10, half a dozen Grade 1 races under the belt and still arguably the best horse on the planet.

My favourite thing about the above sentence is the word ”arguably”. The reason why I love it so much is because there’s a trainer Down Under called Peter Moody who would use that word to describe Frankel and his top billing.

The reason Mr Moody will take an exception to it is due to a mare by the name of Black Caviar who is set for a collision course with the Frankel come June in Royal Ascot. That’s what is most exciting about Frankel’s win in the JLT Lockinge Stakes on Saturday.

It was a straight-forward one mile return for Tom Queally aboard Frankel as he showed too much for Excelebration, trumping him by about four lengths as he stretched the field out over the last 4 furlongs. Frankel looked his usual impressive self; confident, composed and never truly under pressure.

That will all change come the Diamond Jubilee Stakes and we’ll keep our fingers crossed that Black Caviar makes the trip to Royal Ascot in full health and ready for the battle.

Better Than Black Caviar? Hopefully We’ll Get To Find Out At Ascot.

After Black Caviar went 21 from 21 in her last race, the horse in the spotlight now is the wonderful Frankel. The pair seem to be on a collision course for a meeting at Ascot if the stars align but in the meantime, Frankel needs to keep his winning streak going if the race is to be as epic as we hope.

The colt is the odds-on favourite to win the JLT Lockinge Stakes at Newbury after coming out on top of the nine confirmations for the race.

The closest you’ll get odds-wise is 5/2 for Aidan O’Brien’s Excelebration. We’re taking William Hill’s offering of 4/11 for Frankel to take the win and continue the unbeaten streak. The odds given are nothing special but we’ll be combining this with some other selections in an accumulator for the weekend so keep posted for that soon.

The amazing Black Caviar stretched her race record to 21-0 and surely it has to be official now that there’s no more races left for her in Australia or anywhere else in the Southern Hemisphere.

In her 21st win she took the G1 $500,000 Goodwood Handicap at nothing other than a track gallop.

Luke Nolen sat rock still and let her do her usual, as she blitzed the field in an underwhelming but easy time of 1.10.23 . We’re Gonna Rock took second place with Stirling Grove back in 3rd.

Royal Ascot beckons and a showdown with Frankel, the ”best” racehorse in the world awaits. A recent interview with trainer Peter Moody would suggest that he thinks otherwise and there’s really only one way to settle the argument.

It can’t happen soon enough for this punter!

I know what caviar tastes like and I’m a fan, but I imagine it doesn’t taste anywhere near as sweet as the success brought to Peter Moody and co. by the amazing Australian mare Black Caviar.

When it seemed like the great US horse Zenyatta was going to be the mare to complete the perfect record of 20 from 20 last year, she stumbled at the final attempt finishing second to Blame in the Breeder’s Cup Classic.

There was never a doubt at Morphetville that Black Caviar would be trumped and she breezed home to a four length victory sparking scenes akin to Beatlemania, or 1Dmania?? I don’t know what the kids call this strange obsession over a group of boys from England & Ireland but it seemed quite similar.

A trip to Royal Ascot is now on the cards where we’ll get to see her run against some of the best in the Northern Hemisphere and a titanic clash with arguably the greatest horse in the world, Frankel, we  pray is on the cards.
